The First Step in being an American Druggist...

Yesterday was orientation and it was such a long day but got a chance to meet all the faculty members, the active organizations on campus, and other P1s. Everyone received a welcome packet and looking through it, I was thinking 'WHAT, no school planner?!?'. I did received a lanyard with our school name on it so that was nice. I also received my white coat with our school emblem stitched onto it so it will make me look more distinguished.

During lunch, each table had a list of one faculty member with 2-4 students underneath which represented our faculty adviser. My faculty adviser ends up being the man who interviewed me in my pharmacy interview. This was intimidating because I thought he didn't like me since I said I wasn't as interested in research compared to pharmacy at that point, not realizing that his whole LIFE/CAREER IS RESEARCH. Major fail on my part. But after getting to know my adviser, he seems to be a really cool guy.
At the end of the day, there were a few organizations presenting. I am very hesitant about joining clubs because once I join them, I can be really active and not time manage well. Though I am very interested in joining APhA, a national pharmacist organization and their activities seem like it can help me with my future in becoming a pharmacist.

By the end of the day, me and my roomie went to Staples to get a planner. I received one as a gift from a special someone BUT the calendar started in January 2011 so I needed to get a planner for now because I will be ultra busy! I already have readings for first day of class on Monday.

First Week in Vermont

Vermont is very green, very mountain-like. Raajiv kept comparing Burlington in having an Ann Abhor-like quality.  Everyone in town is really nice and helpful.

The first thing I did when arriving was to wash my brand new bedsheets that I got from Walmart. After washing, I transferred it to the dryer and pressed the power button. NOTHING happened. 'uh-oh moment.' Kept pressing it and again, nothing happened. The dryer was suppose to be fixed by Tuesday and I arrived Wednesday so I was very PO. I couldn't call the office because it was 6pm and they were closed. I used the brains and thought 'What would mommy do?'. And this is what happened...

After it dried, it didn't look too bad in my awesome looking bedroom!

During our vacation before school, we just saw some sites such as Church St, Waterfront Pier, and sushi restaurants ( Sakura & Asiana House). Church St reminds me of Newbury street, many storefronts and shopping. Waterfront Pier reminds me of the Charles River but alot cleaner!

Went grocery shopping for small things and my mom only asked Raajiv to bring back one small thing.

HONEY! Honey made from Vermont. Its a huge 5 LB Jug of Vermont Honey that is bigger than Mocha's body. Better be worth it! So expensive =(

My family is amazing!

I love them so much, not just my immediate family but my extended family as well. I am super close to my uncles, aunts, and cousin from both my father and mother's side. They are amazing, full of love and kindness!

*First off, my uncle Dil and cousin Mel basically gave me all the furniture in my apartment helping me fill the kitchen, living/dining room, and my bedroom.
*My mom took me to the Asian supermarkets just to get all the Chinese sauces, noodles, & drinks. (in case Vermont has none).
*My uncle Wil gave me a case ( 30 PACKS!) of Malaysian noodles instead of the stereotypical MSG ramen and my aunt Susan gave me tomato sauce for pasta.
*Grandma Lee made me some homemade Asian sweet tea to drink to make my skin beautiful ( or so they say).
*Auntie Lees gave me luck in a red envelope ;) 
*Grandma Yee help buy my mattress for me to get a good night sleep.
*Even my cousin Mike and his family visited me at work tonight just to say goodbye and wished me luck!

*My uncle Jeff who I think looks and sounds a bit of a gangster, in which he denies says this to me in a straight face: "If you need help, call me, all I need to do is make one phone call and everything will be fine".

Doesn't that sound like he will whack someone for me?????

He owns a factory and just meant that the trucks make deliveries to Burlighton so if I ever need more noodles, they can stop by my apartment and drop some off for me so I won't starve.

Isn't that sweet??? =)

In my past life, I must have done something good to deserve this family and hopefully in the future I will make them proud, make this lifetime well worth it.

Last weekend

 last weekend here started with partying it up with my closest friends and today I will have one last family dinner before leaving on Wednesday.
This weekend made me realized how much I will miss everyone and how grateful I am to have such wonderful support system of friends and family. ;*)

Thursday: spent the day tanning and having a romantic stroll down the beach with Debbie. At the end of the night, got a surprise party from my sisters! I was really surprised and touched because I know how everyone is so busy and to plan a surprise party on a weekday is hard.

One of the most awesomest gifts! Look at that priceless expression!

Saturday: Marlicky planed a BBQ for me and there was soo much food and like ten thousand bags of chips-which I will most likely bring it to Vermont and get fat off of them!! There were purple tableclothes and balloons. AMAZING!

  Later that night spent the evening with everyone at ROXY RED and I am glad everyone was having fun and being entertained by me and Shelley. We def were Party OVERLOAD!!!!

Sunday: Got rid of my hangover by eating sushi at Ginger Exchange with Marlicky and had dinner at Panera with Shewinary.
Watched a movie called 'Under the Same Moon' with bf and basically I cried every 10 minutes.

It was great times with people I love!

Uhauls are expensive!

So if  you know how my dad is, me and my mom and practically my whole family knew that I was renting a UHAUL other than him. He thinks I can bring my whole life in two minivans. So since I moved everything on Wednesday, I decided to tell him on Monday about the UHAUL so he had Tuesday to mull it over.
So on monday night here is how the convo went:

Me: Dad, I rented a UHAUL.

Dad: ( mad face) Why did you rent one. Don't you ever listen to me?

Me: No. 

Dad: I am not driving it. I am not going to Vermont.

Me: Its better to use a UHAUL since it can carry ALOT of stuff and we can drop it off in Vermont.

Dad:(pouting/mad face) Since you don't listen to me, I am not going. 

So just to not make my dad look bad, I made this conversation very G-rated meaning less entertaining.
But he ended up going, and since I was in the car with him for 4 hours, I didn't hear the end of it. Since I was programmed from childhood to yell back whenever I hear the slightest attitude tone, I was not listening and yelling back to what he was saying which was along the lines of its expensive, anything over $150 is a ripoff, they try to cheat you of your money by adding more days than they have to.

I was only annoyed because he wasn't paying for it, I WAS! So if anything it is my money that is ripped off, not his. And he made a point of saying well that is money not going towards our family >_<.

Overall, I am happy I got a UHAUL. I just never imagined that it would be so expensive from the gas to the renting and tax! Now I know.

In denial

These next two weekends have been packed in and filled with crazy fun with family, bf, and friends. It makes me sad and happy. I am happy that I got to see and will get to see everyone but sad to leave. I am excited to make new friends in Vermont but scared all at once.

Because I have been so busy hanging out with everyone, therefore I delayed packing until 2 nights ago. And when I started, I had to stop. I couldn't handle it and got upset. I will miss my other half; we are uncertain of our future because anything can happen when 4 years go by, but we are going to try our hardest to make it work. I have hope.

In happier news:
-Thurs: got to have dinner with Roco who came down from DC for a few days.
-Sat: got to cook lunch and red velvet cupcakes with my mentees from BCNC!

-Sun: Field Day. A first and a success! The oldies rule =) but good job to the youngins. Def got to see ALL the sisters from charters down and I know how hard it is to coordinate that but I am glad sisters came down from out of state or took work off to be here.

So I decided to get a blog because everyone has one. I never really have anything to say but I am planning to use this blog as my diary and something to look back on about what I am missing in Boston while I am in the majestic mountains of Vermont.

With the help from friends and family, I definitely gotten a lot of furniture and kitchen supplies; saving me lots of money!

Yesterday spent so much money on books ( $300) and just got a new memory foam mattress from online Target store ($200). I never usually buy mattresses online but since it has a 5 year warranty, I will review later about that!
