Spirit Week Redux

The doom of finals is coming up this week and with the student's zombie like mannerisms from the lack of sleep, we still had some spirit left in us to celebrate spirit week in our VT campus.

Monday: Rep you city

People hating on the green.

Tuesday: PJ
AP wore a onesies and you can't see it but her foot slippers were puppy faces. It was too cute so too bad we didn't capture that.

Wed: Color Day: P1 -red P2-purple P3-blue
Every class has their own color and our color is MY FAVORITE- purple. Our class is also very intense in our spirit such that we have people willing to dress up as a purple teletubby and the purple man.
This actually also made me realize that my class is ~80% female.

Thur: Lumberjack
none taken :(

Fri: School Spirit Day
I never owned any school gear (even from Simmons) because they were too much money. So yea I did not participate in this one.

...and now back to the books.

Get'cha head in the game

I am a whore to all things on sale (or free!). Groupon, Living social, Rue-lala, you name it, I've got it.

I first got into it for the sushi deals ( I still have 3 vouchers left!) but ever since the Mister has provided me a CC for Emergencies only, it has been a slow slippery slope towards sushi restaurants discounts,  massage deals, gym memberships and other things that I may or may not use.

Well a few weeks ago, while studying in the crowded library re-listening to lectures using my cheap earbuds, I noticed that no one was sitting around my vicinity. I realized later on that everyone could hear what I was listening to. :(

Coincidentally,  I found this deal on Groupon for noise canceling headphones at the same time. Originally priced at $299 but selling it for $69, there was over 5,000 deals bought. Even with the deal I thought it was still on the pricey side, but after going through the positive reviews, I bought it before it got sold out!

It arrived just in time to start studying for finals next week, so please excuse my tired, oily face.. oh and the bad hair.

Good luck everyone! 2 more weeks!!!!

Just want to get up and leave but I won't. Half of me are doubts and the other half is trying not to drown in those doubts.

Just to relax with the girlies, get my hand and feet massage, and look at my pretty toes.
It was a nice deal. Mani and Pedi Spa treatment for $18 (originally $36)

Now off to study for another exam.......

I Make A Difference

This past week the Service Group hosted the blood drive. I was super worried that no one would show up but it was very successful since no one fainted.

I don't know if anyone noticed but they give you an option of getting a band aid or a wrap after your donation and the wrap is super cool. It's not sticky so when you pull it off, your not pulling hair off your arm ( TMI??). Made me feel like a ninja turtle but I forgot to take a photo of it.

Thank you to the volunteers at registration/recovery and for the donors!
Your blood donation can save up to 3 lives.

??!?!?!?!!?

All I ask is for a replacement battery charger and this is what I was sent.

?!?!??!?!! 0____0 ??!?!?!!
I don't even know where to start.

..................................

quick hellO!

Rough couple of weeks coming up and trying to stay on top of it.

I found these encouraging quotes:

...if you look at the bottom of the sheet....

"It doesn't matter how many say it cannot be done or how many people have tried it before; it's important to realize that whatever you're doing, it's your first attempt at it." -Wally Amos

On a much happier note, my forever21 package came in! I am not planning to open it until Friday because I don't deserve to just yet.
:)
I don't even remember what I got so I am uber excited!

Kimchi ME!

After coming back from Fall Recess, we received a gift of Kimchi from KT/JG!

First thought that came to my mind?? KIMCHI FRIED RICE!!!!
I made the rice on Tuesday but didn't even touch it until yesterday. My plan was to make enough to hold me over until the weekend but it keeps calling out to me.

It was silly but I had to google a recipe so that I could prepare myself for this.
STEP-
1: Gather day old rice.

2: Chop whatever you want to stirfry. I got my fake duck, onions, and my frozen vegetables(not shown).

3: Stare at Kimchi hungrily. I got you baby.

4. Heat up some oil in my pseudo wok and stir them onions and fake duck.

5. Add rice. BAM!
the longer you fry, the crisper it is. So fry to your heart's desire.

6. Add the not so secret ingrediant- KIMCHI! BAM! BAM! BAM!
I only stirfried it for a minute or so because I didn't want to lose the sweet, salty, spicy taste of the kimchi and voilà!
You can't have kimchi without the egg on top. I like mines overeasy ;)

Thanks KT/JG!

Phone Home

We didn't do anything super crazy but it was a momentous night because we got a phone together. :) I know phone home lines are the thing of the past but the reception at home is HORRIBLE!!! And we even went way  back into the past and got ourselves a corded phone in case of a power outage or alien invasion attack (reference to movie BattleLos Angeles).

After getting a line together and setting it up, the first on our to do list was -can you guess?
Making a voicemail together! Yea I can see some of you cringing and doing the finger in mouth puking motion but I think it's super cute. And yes- we did finish each other's sentences in the machine. Hit us up if you want our number.
Prankcallers not needed!

Awkward and Awesome Sunday

Back at home. Still relaxing in bed. Its one of those days where I want to snuggle under the covers and the house is so cold that I don't even want to get up to pee.

I am following the Daybook and I love her blog. She's cute and adorable and very interesting. She has awkward and awesome days so I just wanted to tell you about my awkward and awesome Sunday.

Awkward
-as I was about to go to the basement to get my and his laundry from the dryer, I saw the laundry basket in front of door with clothes folded. Mom C folded my clothes which included underwear :( So yea felt bad and awkward.
-another moment: He is temporary out of order due to a foot fracture so when he tried to put the clothes away, it was a fail.

Awesome

-We usually have out-there conversations in the morning and this was one of them:
Me: Why would you buy the cow if you can get the milk for free?
BF: Because I like the cow.
Me: Are you calling me a cow?!?!?!
BF: Yea, Marlana Cao.

- He found this contract online and recited it for me. Pass this along to all your BF/Fiancé/Husbands!

-and having dinner with HKC tonight. :)

IPPE Fail

So every summer, as a pharmacy student you go on Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) at a pharmacy ( e.g. Community pharmacy, Public Health, Institutional, Patient Assessment ) to just get an introduction of what it is like working in those type of settings. Well, my school offers that you can do these rotations anywhere you like as long as the pharmacy is legit and has a preceptor that is willing to teach you.
Of course I want to do my rotation at home because it's home. So after finding a location I was interested in, this was how the conversation went:

Me: Hello, I am a pharmacy student from ____ and I am looking to do an IPPE ___ rotation here. I am not sure if you have a contract with the other pharmacy schools in the area.
Preceptor: Oh well I am pretty busy right now with 4 to 5 students.

Me: The IPPE rotation will be in the summer only for 3 weeks. Would that still be a problem?
Preceptor: I don't have a contract with other pharmacy schools but you have to figure out if your school pays to take students.
Me: (Face:??????) Uh.yea...my school doesn't pay preceptors
Preceptor: Well I guess we can not do business at this time.
Me (..awkward pause...) ok. Thank You Goodbye.
Preceptor: Bye

It made me a little disappointed because yes- I know some pharmacy schools do pay preceptors for their time in teaching. It gives them the incentive but in VT, the preceptors don't get paid to teach students. They offer their services free of charge because they want to teach students to be able future successful pharmacists.

Hopefully I can find another who is willing to teach me to be a good pharmacist because they want to teach- not because they want to get paid.

Recap of Last night

Email between friends:

Me:
So i went home and it was dark! Phong didnt text me back at midnightish. He told me he had friends over. at first I thought like wow- maybe he lied about having people over to make him look busy when I was busy. I was telling him i couldnt talk to him all day cuz i was busy chilling with VT peeps.
So I started cuddling him and he cuddled back!!! 0_0
and then he turned over and was like babe?!?! babe. and he kept calling babe and smiling. :) at first he thought he was dreaming and then he saw me and was pretty shocked and speechless. He looked like he was about to cry but didnt. lol

but yea he was happy. and yes he did have friends over but they left at 1130pm and he got messed up and past out.

Friend response:
Awww, how cute.  I’m surprised you guys did nothing but cuddled…if you did, I don’t want to know.

Day 2 of Volunteering: Epilepsy Walk of VT

Sunday was a big day of volunteering. Many students from my school either went to the Alzheimer's Walk or the Epilepsy Walk. Service Group decided to volunteer at the Epilepsy Walk passing out water to the walkers as well as cheering everyone on. 6 of us volunteered while 12 of our students walked.

The highlight of the walk was that I got to meet Miss Vermont!!! I think the boys were more excited than I since they couldn't wait to take a photo with her and ask her for her autograph.

While I was talking to her, I found out that she went to Simmons College but she went there the year after I graduated ( SO FREAKING YOUNG!). It was such a small world and we were just talking about the college and how much she loved it when she was there.
Rachel- I got you an autograph!!!!

Till next weekend :)

Hurricane Irene Clean-Up

So the area that we're in didn't get any damage from Hurricane Irene- we were pretty lucky. After looking through photos and watching the news about Southern VT, I had no idea that houses were washed away, roads were destroyed, and everyone lost something.

Service Group was trying to figure out what ways we could help. We did do a bake sale but felt that we could have done more and thanks to our school's Dance Club, we combined forces  and actually went down to a town in Southern VT (73 miles away) and 12 volunteers got down and dirty!

This is what the town bridge looked like during the flood.

We were assigned to help a business called UltraMotive. When we got there, the area outside was a mess. There were high piles of mud everywhere mixed with broken pieces of wood and whatever was in there.

We were assigned to help clear and clean. That may sound like nothing special but imagine if it was your business. If everything in it, the machines and the building in it was ruined. After hearing from the owner that 30 of their employees has been unemployed for the past month but still has been coming in from Monday to Friday- UNPAID and voluntary- to help clear/clean so they could have their jobs back is heartwarming.

Our very efficient assembly line to clean. If you notice the back wall ( the faint line on the green), that was how far the flood water went.

Just wanted to give special thanks to all the volunteers who helped out. This event was very vague in where and when they wanted us because help is needed everyday in different areas so I am glad everyone was patient with us.

If your in the VT area and want to volunteer I suggest going to this website:

ok ..ok... I know I SHOULD be studying

BUT... these past few days hasn't been apple pie. Feeling a bit bitter, a little worthless and under the weather. You know it most be bad if I had to soak myself in a bubble bath to wallow in this self pity with beer and candles and Adele in the background.

BUT TODAY IS A NEW DAY.

I will think and be positive. Be a man and do the right thing!!! AJA AJA AJA. I went through a few setbacks but I can get over this hump and put my game face on.

so... what was first on my agenda?

1.Blogging! I saw this one blogger OpinionSlave and I love her outfit so I am on the hunt for Ankle Booties, Undergarment Nudis, and usually I don't like orange but I am really feeling that dress. It looks so amazing on her.

ok. Now I am happy. Thanks for listening to my random rants! :)
